The January Leadership Award from First Security Bank goes to Luke James. Here is what his teacher had to say:
Luke is such a great student! He comes to class each day prepared and with a positive attitude. If he misses school, he is quick to come to my room and get any paper copies of missed work. His attitude in class is not only positive, but upbeat, which can really help fuel positive energy throughout the room. Luke is kind to his peers, often offering help when he understands something that a table neighbor might be stuck on. Overall, Luke represents MHJH and the community in a positive way and is deserving of the Student of the Month award.

The MHJH Quiz Bowl team competed in the 6A-3 Conference Tournament on Saturday. Our team went 3-1 and got second place, narrowly losing to Searcy in the championship game.

Eliza Obert and Ricia Recktenwald were named to the All-Star team for having at least a 5-pt per game average.

By placing second, our team earned a berth to play in the 6A Regional Tournament next weekend in Bryant. This will be our last tournament of the season.

Members pictured are Cooper Adams, Jace Yonkers, Ricia Recktenwald, Eliza Obert, Presley Mayfield, Taylor St. Clair, Addison Chisenhall, and Alena Alvarez.

Bomber Families,
We’re watching forecasts closely and will be in touch if necessary. We shared this back in December, but here’s a little reminder about our inclement weather procedures:

• We will do our best to make cancellation/delay decisions the night before, but as you know, sometimes that is not possible.
• If we have to cancel in the morning, we will do our very best to have that announcement to you all before our first bus is scheduled to take off around 5 a.m.
• If we need to run snow routes for our buses, a copy of those routes can be found here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1fRlENdg-GdHjW5P6520tVWk8hoLnazsr
• We will use our district’s alert system to make these announcements, so please make sure your child’s school has the correct phone numbers and email addresses on file. If you get our weekly update videos, we already have your correct information. We also update the local media of any closings, cancellations, delays, or early releases.
• If you do not hear from us – through our alert system or through local news outlets – that means we ARE having school.
• If we release school early due to inclement weather, we will send your child home in normal fashion. If you have alternate plans for your young children on early release days, please make sure their teachers are aware.
• If we release early, our Flight Crew program will not be open, so please make your child’s teacher aware of how they will be getting home.

Our calendar this year has five built-in snow days. There are no digital learning days, but if we miss five days or less this year, we will not have to make up any days. If we miss more than five days, we will use our emergency use days (in order) as they are listed on our district calendar, which is also available on our website.
