Bomber Families,
We’re watching forecasts closely and will be in touch if necessary. We shared this back in December, but here’s a little reminder about our inclement weather procedures:

• We will do our best to make cancellation/delay decisions the night before, but as you know, sometimes that is not possible.
• If we have to cancel in the morning, we will do our very best to have that announcement to you all before our first bus is scheduled to take off around 5 a.m.
• If we need to run snow routes for our buses, a copy of those routes can be found here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1fRlENdg-GdHjW5P6520tVWk8hoLnazsr
• We will use our district’s alert system to make these announcements, so please make sure your child’s school has the correct phone numbers and email addresses on file. If you get our weekly update videos, we already have your correct information. We also update the local media of any closings, cancellations, delays, or early releases.
• If you do not hear from us – through our alert system or through local news outlets – that means we ARE having school.
• If we release school early due to inclement weather, we will send your child home in normal fashion. If you have alternate plans for your young children on early release days, please make sure their teachers are aware.
• If we release early, our Flight Crew program will not be open, so please make your child’s teacher aware of how they will be getting home.

Our calendar this year has five built-in snow days. There are no digital learning days, but if we miss five days or less this year, we will not have to make up any days. If we miss more than five days, we will use our emergency use days (in order) as they are listed on our district calendar, which is also available on our website.

A huge thank you to Legacy Racquet and Fitness for generously hosting Special Olympics and supporting our athletes, Major thanks to Centennial Bank for providing lunch for all those that participated!

Now it’s time to gear up for Basketball in February—we can’t wait for what’s next!

Today Sgt. Britt Clements and TFC Clint Henderson of the Arkansas State Police visited Mr. Meurer's Foundations of Law Enforcement class. They spoke with students about accident investigation, explaining not only how it’s done, but why it’s done that way. They did an excellent job engaging the class and even had students using calculators to determine a vehicle’s speed. It was a great hands-on learning experience for everyone involved.

Our MHJH Quiz Bowl team competed in the Co-op tournament at Ozarka in Melbourne yesterday. We had a close game against Mammoth Spring and won, we had the closest game against ICC that any team of Mr. Kerr's has ever had but came up just short, and then we faced off against a good Rural Special team and lost. Overall, Mr. Kerr feels it was good preparation for our upcoming conference tournament.

Our next event will be the 6A conference tournament in Marion on Jan 31.

Pictured are: Kaleb Gray, Addison Chisenhall, Ricia Recktenwald, Eliza Obert, Taylor St. Clair, Taylen Broadway, Alena Alvarez, and Presley Mayfield.

From Mr. Kerr: "A positive to take away from today, besides the preparation, is that a gentleman from Rural Special told me that he thought that our students were very well-behaved and that it was a pleasure to play against a team with students like ours."

This month's MHJH First Security Leadership Award recipient is Paysli Barker. Paysli is always working hard, with a smile on her face. She is eager to learn and wants to ensure everything is done and done with excellence. She is not afraid to ask questions and is willing to help others when they get stuck. Paysli is a quiet presence in the classroom, but when she is called on, she will speak up and speak out and she truly exemplifies what a model student looks like.
