Bomber Families,
We have been closely following the radar and collecting updates from the National Weather Service regarding the impending winter storm. Our county is officially under a winter storm warning. Now that we have a clearer picture of what the next couple of days will look like, I wanted to share our plan with you.
We will release students from school at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, and there will be no school on Friday, January 10.
I know a 1:30 p.m. closure is inconvenient for some, but my top concern is ensuring our kids and staff get home safely, and this early release should allow for that.
As you know, these types of storms are ever-changing, and so there is still a possibility we will have to adjust the early release time. If we need to make changes to this plan, I will let you know as soon as that decision is made.
For now, If you have alternate plans for your young children on early release days, please make sure their teachers are aware so that adjustments can be made tomorrow. Remember that when we release early, our Flight Crew program is not open, so please make your children's teachers aware of how they will be getting home.
Thank you for your continued patience and support. If things change, I will reach out to you all through the normal channels, but I am hopeful that this plan allows us as much instructional time as possible while also ensuring enough time is allowed for safe travel.
Allyson Dewey

Inclement weather reminders:
1. If we must cancel or delay school, we will do our best to do it the night before, but that is not always possible.
2. If a decision is made to cancel school for any reason, we will notify you through a phone call, text message, and a social media post. We will also notify local media.
3. You will never need to rely on rumors or social media speculation with regards to school closures/delays. We let our families know AS SOON AS the decision is made.
4. Snow routes might need to be used at some point for our students who ride buses. Those routes are available here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1fRlENdg-GdHjW5P6520tVWk8hoLnazsr

Pinkston GT Explorers observed and learned how to perform a few basic medical procedures before winter break. Students were interested in learning how to take blood pressure, heart rate and blood oxygen levels with help from nurse Doty Neis. They also learned how a healthy ear nose and throat should look and how to examine using an otoscope from Dr. Neis. Finally, Jim Dudgeon helped students test their own blood to learn their blood types! Hopefully a little spark of interest was lighted for the medical profession in a few of our scholars! Our students love learning from our community members!

The Mountain Home Public Schools food service department received a substantial donation this holiday season from FOP Lodge #45. This money was used to pay off multiple students' meal balances. We are so thankful for local groups that are always thinking of our students!

Mrs. Perryman’s 6th grade literacy classes got rewarded for growing/meeting the 6th grade goal for the middle of the year Reading MAP test. They celebrated with a movie and yummy treats!
A student who showed the most growth from the beginning of year test to the middle of year test from each class, and a student with the highest score from each class, each got a $10 Sonic giftcard for their hard work.
Most growth per class: Hayden Daniel, Ryker King, Olivia Seals, Josh Murphy, Hunter Cheek, and Maci Garrison
Highest score per class: Martin Castillo (not pictured), Karmin Gibbs, Ryder Eaton, Emma Nagrocki, Peyton Vann, and Abby Henry
We are so proud of all the hard work these students put in 🎉

Congratulations to Betsy Barr & Ella Morris! 🎶
Both of these Pinkston Middle School 7th graders qualified for the Region 6 Junior High All-Region Band. They competed with over 600 7th, 8th & 9th graders from 25 other schools in Northwest Arkansas. Students had blind auditions after learning 5 etudes, 14 scales and sightreading at Harrison Middle School on December 14th.
These girls will attend the All-Region Clinic in Bentonville on January 24-25, 2025. Ella plays the French horn and Betsy plays the clarinet. This is a huge accomplishment for young musicians!
